A child’s age has a big impact on issues within the mouth
Trembath Dental recommends bringing your child in every six months for their general check-up so we can assess their oral health and the need for orthodontic intervention.
Orthodontic treatment can sometimes commence from as young as 7. However most orthodontic treatment usually starts by age 12-14, when most of the adult teeth have erupted. Getting a professional opinion early ensures potential treatment will commence at the optimal age.
WHY WOULD MY CHILD NEED AN ORTHODONTIC EXAMINATION?
There are many reasons to undergo orthodontic treatment. Many believe it’s for cosmetic reasons only (which for some it is) but for many it is highly recommended to prevent jaw problems and excessive teeth wear later in life or to correct the bite and assist immediately with speech, swallowing and chewing.
An early examination will allow us to detect and evaluate any problems and to plan appropriate treatment schedules. Early treatment may prevent more serious problems from developing further and potentially make treatment less complicated. Early treatment can also attain results that might not be possible once the face and jaws have stopped growing.
