Children's Dentistry

Maintaining healthy teeth is crucial for all ages, but a healthy start can make this maintenance process a lot easier

Whether your children still have their baby teeth, or their permanent adult teeth have come through, the state of your child’s teeth through their development is one of the most significant aspects of a child’s overall health.

By bringing your child in for a check-up at Trembath Dental, we can help to ensure they have great oral health and hygiene habits from the start right through to adulthood.

Here at Trembath Dental, we offer the following children’s dentistry treatments:

When to start your child’s dental visit routine is very conflicting due to the broad information provided by health professionals and the media. Here at Trembath Dental, we believe you can never start a good habit to early. Dr Paul Trembath recommends you bring your little one in soon after the first tooth has erupted and no later than age one.

By bringing your child in before they turn one we can assess

  • Enamel formation
  • Check their gums and other soft tissues
  • Check their teeth eruption
  • Ensure your little one has the best start to a healthy mouth.

By this stage you and your little one should have a well-developed oral hygiene routine and if you haven’t, we can assist you in getting one started.

We recommend you bring with you any oral care appliances you use when assisting your little one with brushing so we can help you to establish a positive and effective oral hygiene routine.

A baby’s primary teeth, or baby teeth as they are more commonly known, are already present in their jaws when they are born. Typically, they begin to erupt when a baby is between six months to nine months. However, they can break through earlier or later in some cases. Most children will have their full set of 20 baby teeth by the time they turn three years old.

Many parents don’t think the baby teeth are important as they just fall out. This is not the case. The baby teeth lay the important groundwork for their permanent adult teeth. When a child’s baby teeth are healthy, it is easier for their adult teeth to come through straight and healthy.

We proudly participate in the Child Dental Benefit Scheme as provided by Medicare that went into effect on January 1, 2014. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides many families with access to dental treatment and has assisted around 3 million children aged 2-17 years.

We will bulk bill any child who is covered by medicare on the CDBS.

The total benefit entitlement is capped at $700 per child over a two-year calendar period. The CDBS provides individual benefits for a comprehensive range of services that include:

  • examinations
  • x-rays
  • cleaning
  • fissure sealing
  • fillings
  • root canals
  • extractions

However, some benefits aren’t available under the CDBS such as orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be used for payment for any services provided in a hospital, such as those performed under general anaesthesia.

To learn more about CDBS, please visit the Medicare website or contact the team at Trembath Dental.

Here at Trembath Dental, we also offer patients a choice of two highly accredited payment plan through MacCredit Payment Plans and Denticare payment solutions so you can get the treatment you need now, not later. We also accept most major credit cards including VISA and MasterCard.

We have added a HICAPS machine to our practice which is a direct link with most major health funds to process your claims directly, and easily.
